Kim McConnie jumps from Big Bash League boss to become Foxtel’s head of sport

Cricket Australia’s head of the Big Bash League has been revealed as Foxtel’s new head of sport.

Kim Connie will replace Adam Ballesty who abruptly departed just six months after starting at the subscription TV operator.

Prior to joining the Big Bash League in 2017, Connie spent 14 years with Pepsico, including four years as the group’s New York based senior director of sports marketing.

In a statement to staff, Foxtel CMO Kieran Cooney said: “We are thrilled to announce that Kim McConnie will be joining Foxtel as director of marketing – sport.”

Coonan himself only joined Foxtel last October from REA Group after veteran marketer Andy Lark left a month after Ballesty was appointed.

Last week, group head of lifestyle digital and marketing, Brigitte Slattery, joined the ranks of departing Foxtel marketing execs and joined NBC Universal International Networks.

“Kim has an impressive media and sport background, most recently the GM of The Big Bash and prior to that has over 12 years of diverse marketing leadership experience within PepsiCo globally, most prominently, Sports Marketing in the US. She will be joining us on 8 April,” Cooney continued.

“This is a key appointment for Foxtel and we are very excited that Kim will be joining the team. We are looking forward to her arrival next month.”
