Ten hits new weekly low as MKR continues to build Seven share

Audience interest in Seven’s My Kitchen Rules and Nine’s Married At First Sight squeezed Ten out of contention in the seventh week of the official ratings year.

Shows from Seven and Nine took every one of the top 15 metro shows of the week, while Ten’s share slipped to the lowest point yet this year.

A major factor in Ten’s disappointing performance was The Biggest Loser: Transformed, which has now been pulled from the schedule. Only one episode from last week made the top 100 most watched shows, with Thursday’s coming in at 79th for the week.

Seven won the week, with an all-people share of 24.4%, with Nine on 18.6%.

ABC was on 12.2%, while Ten was well back on 9.3%.

Over the last month, Ten’s share has slipped each week, from 12.5% to 11.9% to 9.9% to 9.3%.

It is the first time in three years that Ten’s weekly share has fallen below 10% during the official ratings period.

The Wednesday, Monday and Tuesday episodes of MKR were the three most watched metro shows of the week, followed by the Monday and Sunday episodes of MAFS.

Meanwhile, Ten’s best performer – last Sunday’s Melbourne grand prix – was down in 25th place.

Taking into account regional affiliates, the strengthening My Kitchen Rules was the only show to pull in an audience of more than 2m during the week. Wednesday’s episode of MKR averaged 2.136m nationally.

Seven also won the week in the key advertising demographics of 16-39, 25-54 and grocery buyers in both peak and across the whole day.
