My Kitchen Rules trumps The Block while Secret & Lies drops viewers

My Kitchen Rules regained its number one rating spot last night with 1.734 million metro viewers on Channel Seven according to OzTam, after rival The Block claimed the position for the first time on Sunday night.

Last night Nine’s reality renovation show’s audience dropped back to 1.283 million metro viewers for Channel Nine in the 7.30pm – 9pm timeslot against its rival cooking show on Seven.

Ten’s whodunnit series Secrets & Lies dropped to 366,000 metro viewers after launching to 403,000 viewers last Monday, despite the Ten Network handing out DVDs of the first episode in east coast capitals as part of a bid to get more people hooked at the end of last week.

It ran between 8.30pm – 9.30pm, pitting it against Nine and Seven’s reality shows for the first half, and Love Child and Revenge for its later part.Nine’s Love Child won the 9pm timeslot with 1.160 million metro viewers compared to the 806,000 who tuned in to Seven’s Revenge.

Seven just won the night ahead of Nine with an audience share of 25.3 per cent compared to Nine’s 24.8 per cent. ABC1 beat Ten with a share of 14.5 per cent, while Ten only managed an 8.3 per cent share.

Ten’s highest viewed program was its Eyewitness News which saw 688,000 metro viewers tune in. The Project, which came 20th for the night, was the station’s second highest program with 588,000 metro viewers.

Secrets and Lies did however pick up an extra 90,000 viewers watching the debut episode having recorded it, according to the consolidated figures.

However, last night it dropped from its lead-in shows with 517,000 viewers watching a new episode of Modern Family at 7.30pm and 427,000 people for Bondi Rescue at 8pm.

ABC’s Australian Story, which was up against both MKR and The Block, managed 896,000 metro viewers.
