Koala uses ‘Want longer lasting sex?’ billboards to promote mattresses

Mattress brand Koala has created a new out-of-home ad asking passers by if they “want longer lasting sleep?”

The ad, created by the brand’s in-house marketing team, is based on the long-running ’90s nasal spray advertisement that promised longer lasting sex.

The out-of-home ad plasters the word ‘sleep’ over ‘sex’ and says “spice up your sleep life”.

Matthew Overington, head of communications at Koala, told Mumbrella: “A lot of us grew up with this advertising around a product that was like a nasal spray that promised better lasting sex back in the ’90s.

“We deliberately wanted to take the ‘mickey’ out of that and take that to better lasting sleep. The ads were a large part of any millennial’s TV viewings back in the ’80s or ’90s and we just wanted to lambast that.”

There are two of the out-of-home ads in Sydney and two in Melbourne.

In September last year, Koala replicated its competitor’s out-of-home ads, replicating its competitor De Rucci’s well known ad located at Melbourne airport.
