Kogan: we’re always listening to social media feedback
Kogan has launched an ad made up of comments made about its service on Facebook and Twitter.
The ad was conceived and executed inhouse.
Public relations were handled by Click PR, the agency formed in February by Kogan’s former head of communications Vuki Vujasinovic.
Looks like Click PR is doing a good job for Kogan – great stuff coming out of them at the moment. I think I’ll hit them up shortly.

Not a bad ad, though not sure what context this could be used.

Check out the 29 second mark for a tweet from yours truly – @techAU.
It is a pretty decent ad actually. Will post about it later today.

It would be interesting to see whether they paid a list company to generate Facebook/Twitter comments or if these comments were in fact all authentic. If authentic, this is a great ad which integrates social media quite nicely!

Straight to the point, real and nice to watch. A good campaign that consumers will read and engage… not turn off from trying to be too fancy and clever

The tweets are authentic – one of them came from me.

BUT DOES RUSLAN EVEN LISTEN TO NEGATIVE FEEDBACK??
Last year I bought a dreadfully performing set top box from Kogan, and then proceeded to review it HONESTLY on the website. I ran through its deficiencies in a mature and reasoned fashion.
I waited a few days and checked the “Customer Reviews” section of the website, which contained only a handful of reviews – all glowing – for the product. My review did not appear.
As an experiment, I then proceeded to draft a fresh review – in a false name – for same product. This time I gave the product 5 stars out of 5 and described all the ways it had changed my life for the better.
2 days later I checked again – my glowing review featured prominently, while my truthful, negative, review never appeared.
Kogan is at his best when he is self-promoting,.

Good but too long. One minute would have been far more palatable and just as effective.

Kogan should *really* try to avoid putting Ruslan Kogan on TV panels again if they’re going to emphasise their social media reputation in their advertising. The last 24hrs of Twitter search results on “kogan” are pretty negative after Ruslan appeared on #qanda last night http://twitter.com/#!/search/kogan
Granted, it’s the ABC, and it’s #qanda not Today Tonight, but that context might be lost if potential customers decided to check Kogan’s Twitter reputation for themselves.
