Kurt Burnette named as successor to James Warburton at Seven
As has been widely expected, the replacement for James Warburton at Seven has been named as Kurt Burnette.
Currently network director of sales, Burnette takes on the chief sales and digital officer position from today.
After protracted legal ructions, Warburton will start at Ten as the network’s CEO in January 2012.
In an announcement, David Leckie, CEO of Seven West Media, said:
“Kurt is rightly acknowledged as the best sales executive in the business. We are delighted that he’s accepted the challenge. His appointment also recognises the depth of talent here at Seven West. He’s leading the best sales team in the best performing media business in Australia.”
Burnette added:
“I’m very proud to be given the opportunity to head up the group sales of Australia’s largest and most successful media company. It is a company I am passionate about. We have an extremely talented and committed group of people across our business. One of the most exciting propositions is not just the great results that have been achieved to date but the future direction and prospects of the Seven West Media Group.”
Burnett will be speaking at Mumbrella360 next week.
“acknowledged as the best in the business …?” more like he’s in the right place at the right time.
There’s a long list of brilliant media sales execs and he’s on it, but he aint leading it.

If he’s the widely acknowledged as the best sales person in the business why didn’t he get the job over JW before he split?
