Kyle and Jackie O may have a future in podcasting
Kyle and Jackie O may not have proven themselves to be a formidable force in Melbourne breakfast radio yet, but their continued appearances in the top end of the Podcast Ranker suggests they have a strong national audience.
In September’s Australian Podcast Ranker, The Kyle and Jackie O Show is sitting in eighth place overall, with over 1.26 million downloads for the month, across 86 episodes.
While the show is being trumped by perennial radio favourites, Hamish and Andy, who again lead the ranker with 1.69 million downloads and 847,644 listeners, it’s worth noting that, aside from ABC’s Conversations, Kyle and Jackie O boast the largest podcasting audience of any radio catch-up podcast.
Comparatively, Ben Fordham Live is ranked #30, with 337,457 monthly downloads across 160 shows – while Smallzy’s Surgery sits at #34 with 170,618 downloads across 104 new episodes.
Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel — the country’s most popular networked show — is ranked just 133rd, with 97,327 downloads across 53 episode.
So, while Kyle and Jackie O can’t claim to have won Melbourne yet – their download numbers show a large, national audience is still there for the taking.
