Kyle and Jackie O Show ‘dumped’ during Bachelor in Paradise abortion discussion

A discussion about Alex Nation and Richie Strahan, two Bachelor in Paradise contestants, has led to the audio being dumped on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on ARN’s Kiis FM.

In the audio, which has been heard by Mumbrella, Kylie Sandilands references the discussion between Nation and Strahan on Bachelor in Paradise which Ten aired unedited on split-screen. Sandilands said “spoiler alert: abortion”, shortly after which, the breakfast show was cut off.

The Nation and Strahan discussion

As the discussion cuts out, it is replaced by Kiis’ dumped audio recording which says “The station you are listening to has been dumped. This means someone has said something inappropriate and is currently getting in trouble.”

When the feed returns to the duo, they confirm it was newsreader Brooklyn Ross who caused the dump, but they don’t reveal the nature of what was said. The audio will “never see the light of day”.

Ten was heavily promoting the conversation between Nation and Strahan, which was reported to be the first time the couple have seen each other since they split after Strahan’s turn as the Bachelor.

During the conversation, the couple discussed what had led to their breakup but didn’t explicitly state the incident. At no point did they confirm they were discussing abortion. Sandilands’ conclusion, however, has been reached by many in the media and online.

In response to backlash online regarding the Nation and Strahan conversation, and whether or not it was appropriate to air such a confronting and difficult moment, Bachelor in Paradise host Osher Günsberg tweeted that all contestants have access to mental healthcare professionals, something he also confirmed in an interview with Mumbrella last week.

The Bachelor in Paradise ‘dump’ for the Kyle and Jackie O Show, isn’t the duo’s first.

In March this year, the couple were dumped as Sandilands read out explicit messages Jackie ‘O’ Henderson had been receiving on her social media since her marriage split.

In 2009 the duo were famously dumped for a controversial segment in which a 14-year old girl revealed she had been raped.
