Leading Edge directors launch research company Fiftyfive5

Former MD of The Leading Edge Karen Phillips and the market research firm’s global head of branding and innovation, Darren Kemp, have teamed to set up their own research business, Fiftyfive5.

Phillips had been at The Leading Edge for over five years, the latter two as managing director. Prior to that she was a research planner at British Airways.

Meanwhile, Kemp was at The Leading Edge for over three years and was previously national director at TNS. He has also worked as global planning director at Diageo for seven years.

Phillips said Fiftyfive5, based in Sydney, has picked up two yet to be named foundation clients in the airline and luxury car industries.

She said: “The name Fiftyfive5 is inspired by an Einstein quote – illustrative of one of our key guiding principles: If I had an hour to solve a problem, and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first fifty five minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than 5 minutes.”
