Lee Glendinning named Guardian deputy editor

Lee GlendinningThe Guardian Australia’s news editor Lee Glendinning has been promoted to deputy editor.

Glendinning began her career on the Sydney Morning Herald and joined the Guardian in London before returning to Australia as the title’s Asia Pacific site editor in 2010.

The Guardian launched an Australian site earlier this year.

Katharine Viner, editor-in-chief of Guardian Australia, said: “Lee is at the heart of all that we do on Guardian Australia. She has fantastic judgment and excellent ideas; she really understands the Guardian and works incredibly hard. She’ll make a brilliant deputy editor.”

Glendinning said: “It has been a fantastic experience to be a part of the team that launched the Guardian in my home country. I’ve loved watching Australian readers engaging with the site with such enthusiasm, as I always thought they would. I’m really excited about the future of Guardian Australia.”
