Lisa Millar’s ABC News Breakfast replacement revealed

The new co-host of ABC’s News Breakfast has been revealed, after Lisa Millar announced she will be leaving the popular show last month.

Bridget Brennan will be taking over from Millar, presenting alongside Michael Rowland, who she joined on the show Thursday morning.

“It’s been a dream come true to work with Michael and Lisa who I’ve been watching for years, Brennan said, “and to sit alongside you, learn from you both and become deep and wonderful friends has been a privilege.”

Brennan has been with the ABC since 2010, and has filled in for Millar on numerous occasions throughout the work. She has held numerous high-profile roles at the ABC, including Indigenous affairs editor and national Indigenous affairs correspondent.

Millar will finish up with on August 23, but will remain with the ABC, where she will steer a number of projects.

Recently, Miller narrated the Logie-nominated Muster Dogs series, guest presented Back Roads, and is co-host of podcast The Newsreader. Millar will also present Muster Dogs: Where are they now? later this year.

“What a blast the past five years has been, whether it was interviewing prime ministers and global thought leaders or getting karaoke encouragement from my childhood idol Gladys Knight,’’ Millar said.

“In 35 years of journalism I’ve never done anything so exciting, unpredictable, and fun. It’s only worked because of the awesome team in front of the cameras and behind the scenes who kept me laughing.

“Most importantly, I want to thank our viewers who brought me into their homes and lives every morning. I’ve loved sharing breakfast with you all.

“I’m excited to hit the road and discover more of the incredible stories that make up the remarkable tapestry of our culture. There are so many adventures ahead, whether it be with Back Roads, Muster Dogs, or new projects we’re cooking up. What a privilege it is to be a part of that future.”
