Little Birdie Studios launches new branded content creation service based around comedy

A Sydney film studio has launched an online content creation service for brands based around a comedy channel called ‘At The Internet’.

The new venture from Little Birdie Studios is tapping into a number of Australian comedians and producers, and claims it will be resourced so it can react in “real time” to breaking news events.

As part of the launch, the team has produced a one minute video entitled “How to speak advertising”, where they mock many of the industry’s idiosyncrasies and buzzwords ending with the claim “the best way to cut through the bullshit is with comedy”.

The project is being fronted by Digital EMMY award-winning Producer, Pete Gately, who said: “In terms of the online formats, people want to be entertained, not interrupted by brand messages.

“Sometimes the advertising industry takes itself a little bit to seriously. This is very much tongue in cheek. Comedy is one of the oldest forms of viral communication, and inherently it cuts through bullshit.”

The comedy directing and writing talent on board with the project includes Gary Eck, Chris Wainhouse, Ray Badran, Luke Heggie, and Katie Burch.

Gately added: “One of the benefits of working with the At The Internet team is planning and ongoing execution of social and video content to meet content schedules and having resources dedicated so that we can react in real time to breaking events and leverage the conversations and buzz of social content.

“It’s a big opportunity for publishers and brands where we can collaborate to create native content and unique comedy to entertain their audience with fresh comedy crafted for online consumption.”
