Look Upstairs forum launched for Design Matters Melbourne International Design Week

A three day design forum, Look Upstairs, has been launched by agIdeas and  Arts Centre Melbourne for the Design Matters Melbourne International Design Week. The forum, curated by Ken Cato, will explore all aspects of design.

The announcement:

Today, agIdeas in association with Arts Centre Melbourne launches Look Upstairs, the landmark event for Design Matters Melbourne International Design Week, 2014.

This three-day design forum will showcase the journey of inspiration and ingenuity from some of the world’s leading original thinkers, using state of the art technology and informative multimedia; over 40 speakers from 20 nations will share their insights and experiences on how design is explored, developed and interpreted.

Look Upstairs is curated by esteemed designer, Ken Cato AO, Founder of agIdeas and Cato Brand Partners. The event is for professionals, students, educators, researchers and design enthusiasts keen to expand their knowledge and explore new possibilities in innovation, across diverse creative disciplines. It also explores how pioneering design practice can lead to a better, more creative economy.

“Look Upstairs is a one off opportunity for the community to absorb and embrace various aspects of design whilst learning about, and appreciating, a high standard of creative talent. In support of Melbourne International Design Week, this event will showcase the trends and inspirations driving the local and global design community.

I hope that this event makes for a stronger and better profession, encourages new ways to think about design and highlights how design can be applied to business. Ideally Look Upstairs attracts enough attention to demonstrate the importance of design in our daily lives and the contribution design makes to our vibrant, prosperous city,” says Mr Cato.

Held in the iconic Hamer Hall, Look Upstairs will not only reveal what some of the greatest and innovative minds have to say, but the three day event will also provide an opportunity for attendees to connect and network with the speakers and attendees.

Sarah Hunt, Executive, Programming, Marketing and Media, Arts Centre Melbourne says: “We’re delighted to host the largest gathering of international and local design and creative talent at Hamer Hall, in what truly is a world-class networking opportunity. The Arts Centre Lawn will be transformed into a Design Hub during Melbourne International Design Week and Look Upstairs adds to that experience by helping us nurture a strong design culture, against a gorgeous backdrop, in the heart of our city.”

Look Upstairs, from 2-4 April. Tickets can be purchased via www.lookupstairs.com.au with one and three day passes available.
