OMD’s Lucy Formosa Morgan to lead PHD trading as Melissa Hey departs Starcom
A roundabout of senior moves has seen the trading leadership change at media agencies OMD, PHD and Starcom.
The moves see OMD’s Lucy Formosa Morgan move to sister Omnicom agency PHD as trading director. The move follows the short tenure in the role at PHD of Faith Campbell who returned to the USA for family reasons.
Formosa Morgan had previously spent five years leading TV trading at OMD.
Meanwhile, Starcom’s Sydney and Brisbane investment director Melissa Hey will join OMD as its new national head of television.
A spokesman for Starcom said that a decision would be made on Hey’s replacement prior to her departure in March.
Peter Horgan, MD of OMD Australia, said Formosa Morgan would continue to work with the agency via Opera, Omnicom’s group buying arrangement. He said: “This is a move that has been engineered to allow Lucy development in her career and is also testament to the incredible job she has done at OMD. The move also facilitates greater cohesion at the Opera level. It is wonderful to be able to promote great talent within the organisation.”
Horgan said: “Melissa is a proven negotiator with great media relationships, and will prove a formidable asset in leading Australia’s largest team of TV experts.”
PHD’s appointment comes at a crucial stage for the agency, which is in the midst of the massive media pitch for Unilever, which it is battling out with Initiative and Mindshare.
Interesting. Three big agency negotiators, all women. What happened to the Australian media trading boys’ club?
