m2m wins $51m Hyundai media account

Media agency m2m has won the media account for South Korean automotive giant Hyundai from incumbent Initiative.

The pitch process was run by Innocean – a creative agency owned by Kia and Hyundai which started life doing comms for the car brands.

Hyundai has ended its decade-long relationship with Initiative

Hyundai also owns a minority stake in Kia Motors.

m2m confirmed the win and said a statement would be issued shortly.

According to Nielsen Ad Intel, Hyundai spent $51.2m on media between May 2017 and April 2018, excluding dealerships.

Previous agency Initiative said: “Hyundai and Initiative enjoyed a very successful partnership for 10 years and we wish them the best for the future.”

Last year, Havas Media won the media account for Kia also from incumbent Initiative, in another pitch run by Innocean.
