MacTalk moves to Niche Media

Tech site MacTalk has been sold to publisher Niche Media, which already publishes Macworld Australia.

The announcement comes four months after owner Anthony Agius put Mactalk up for sale, seeking offers of more than $125,000.

In an announcement posted on MacTalk, Agius said that he would be staying on board for the next three months – and that the two Mac publications would not be merging.

He said: “There were many bidders for MacTalk, but ultimately, I decided to pass MacTalk on to Niche because they are one of the few, perhaps the only publisher who can take MacTalk further, whilst bring true to it’s roots. Niche have been in the Apple sphere for over 20 years.”

As well as Macworld Australia, Niche also publishes Touch, which focuses on iPad, iPhone and iPod coverage.

The three titles will form a new consumer tech division within Niche Media with Liana Pappas as publisher and Dave Bullard editor-in-chief.
