The magazine cover of the year awards shortlist announced
The Magazine Cover of the Year shortlist has been announced, with the public now able to vote for their favourite cover over the next five weeks.
The announcement:
Jess Hart simmers on the cover of Harper’s BAZAAR ‘White Hot’ issue; while Kylie Minogue flirts up a storm with the Stenmark twins on GQ Australia, and a naked and heavily pregnant Megan Gale glows on the cover of marie claire.
On The Australian Women’s Weekly a barefooted Princess Mary sits cross-legged on the floor (a royal coup as it was the first Australian shoot in nine years), while Anna Bligh is shot in darkness, head covered with a black scarf, behind the coverline “Anna’s Horribilis” on the cover of The Weekend Australian Magazine. These are just some of the images that are fighting it out to win the Best Magazine Cover in their respective categories, plus the coveted Magazine Cover of the Year Award in this year’s 2014 consumer awards, The Maggies.
The nominated entries were judged by a panel of industry heavyweights who selected the shortlist of 5 covers per category. This panel included:

- Andrew Burge, CEO & Founder of iSUBSCRiBE Pty Ltd
- Ita Buttrose, Youngest-ever Editor of The Australian Women’s Weekly & first female newspaper editor
- Andrew Cowell, Media Consultant
- Mark Fletcher, Newsagent, Newsagency Blog Publisher & CEO of newsXpress
- Deborah Hutton, Media Personality
- James Manning, Editor, Mediaweek
- Phil Scott, Media Consultant
- Sarah Wilson, Author, Blogger & Wellness Coach
The general public will now vote for their favourite covers over the next five weeks as the voting goes live at www.themaggies.com.au
The overall winner and individual category winners will be announced Wednesday 15th October 2014 at The Maggies Magazine Cover of the Year Awards Night in Sydney.
The public will be incentivised to vote for their favourite magazine cover with a reward of a $5 iSUBSCRiBE gift voucher. The voucher may be redeemed against iSUBSCRiBE’s entire range of over 2,000 magazine and newspaper subscriptions. In addition, $1 from every subscription sold using the iSUBSCRiBE gift vouchers will be donated to Alzheimer’s Australia.
