Marion Grasby signs for Masterchef Magazine

Elimiated Masterchef contestant Marion Grasby is to write a column for Masterchef magazine, News Magazines has revealed.

The announcement:

Following her shock elimination from MasterChef Australia on Thursday, MARION GRASBY has been snapped up by News Magazines, signing an exclusive deal with MasterChef Magazine, Australia’s hottest new food title.

Undeniably one of the show’s standout contestants, Marion has been the one to watch throughout the second series of Channel Ten’s smash hit food program.

Matt Preston, MasterChef judge and MasterChef Magazine regular columnist, said of Marion’s appointment: “The TV show’s loss is MasterChef Magazine’s gain.

“I’m delighted that Marion is going to be joining the magazine. George, Gary and I take our mentorship of the contestants very seriously and anything we can do to help them follow their dreams in food after the show we will happily do.”

Trudi Jenkins, editor-in-chief, MasterChef Magazine, said Marion was signed not just because of her popularity but because of the qualities she brings to the magazine.

“I was really interested in signing Marion because MasterChef Magazine is all about integrity and credibility. Marion has a background as a journalist at the ABC, she is passionate about food and cooking and is studying for a masters degree in gastronomy – she’s perfect columnist material and immensely likeable, ” says Ms Jenkins.

Marion clearly resonated with Australian TV audiences, with the public outcry over her elimination proving just how popular she is.

MasterChef Magazine Food Director, Sophia Young, also recognises Marion’s talent, having tested a number of her dishes for inclusion in the first three issues of the magazine.

“Marion’s recipes demonstrate a great palate. It’s clear she gives consideration to how flavours work together, and she knows how to achieve balance and not overwhelm the key ingredients in her dishes,” said Ms Young.

“Obviously she still has lots to learn, as do all the contestants, but she shows an innate sense of technique. I always smile when I test her recipes as there’s some clever little kick or twist of flavour that’s original.”

MasterChef Magazine has become Australia’s hottest new food title since its first issue went on sale in May. Issue one was a sell-out, forcing News Magazines to reprint, and issues two and three have both sold beyond expectations.

Marion will join a stellar line-up of regular contributors including Matt Preston, George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan, Curtis Stone and Donna Hay when her regular column hits the stands in MasterChef Magazine’s August issue, with an all new, tried and tested recipe for her controversial satay sauce.
