Mark Richardson joins Petbarn as GM of retail marketing
The chief marketer of meal kit delivery brand, Marley Spoon, Mark Richardson, has joined Greencross Pet Wellness Company – parent company of Petbarn and Greencross Vets – as its new general manager of retail marketing.
He is one of two senior hires for the company, with Emma Porter also joining as general manager of loyalty and customer lifecycle management (CRM).
In his new role, Richardson will work closely with Nick Adams, chief customer officer. He will lead retail marketing efforts for the Petbarn brand, focusing on growing its presence and enhancing its customer engagement and experience.
He joined Marley Spoon early last year, replacing Kate Whitney, who took on a role at Treasury Wine Estates as chief digital and technology officer. In his role, Richardson oversaw Marley Spoon’s business and portfolio of brands including Dinnerly, Chefgood, and bezzie.
Prior to that, Richardson was marketing director at ALDI Australia. He spent six years with the brand, during which he launched the now iconic ‘Good Different’ brand proposition. Richardson was replaced by former Westpac head of marketing and media, Jenny Melhuish.
He also brings experience from Foxtel, M&C Saatchi, and Banjo Advertising to the new role.
Meanwhile, Porter joins from Adairs Retail Group where she led loyalty and CRM. She has over 20 years of experience in the industry, having worked with some of Australia’s leading brands including Country Road, Myer, Coles, T2, and Decjuba.
In her new role at Greencross, she will be responsible for driving customer retention and growth through data-driven loyalty and CRM programs.
“We are excited to welcome Emma and Mark, two exceptional talents whose expertise in retail marketing and customer loyalty will strengthen our ability to grow and innovate,” Adams said of the senior appointments.
“Their skills will be invaluable as we continue to meet the evolving needs of pet parents and enhance the value we bring to our customers. Both Emma and Mark share a deep passion for pets, making them perfect fits for our mission-driven team.”
