Marvel’s Ant-man and The Wasp collects $5m on its first box office weekend
Marvel’s latest film at the Australian box office, Ant-man and The Wasp, earned almost $6m on its first weekend, dethroning Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
The film, which stars Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd, sees Ant-Man Scott Lang struggle to balance his home and superhero lives. He is called on a new mission which sees him fight alongside The Wasp.
According to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia report, the film made $5.814m across more than 600 screens.
Behind Ant-man this week was Disney film Incredibles 2, which made another $3.958m in earnings over the weekend. The result brought total earnings above $30m.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom fell behind the two Disney films, achieving $3.837m at the weekend box office, bringing the total earnings since its release to $26.426m.
Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation and Ocean’s 8 grabbed earnings of $3.019m and $751,665 respectively.
