MasterCard in ‘Priceless Music’ drive for Birds of Tokyo

MasterCard has turned to animation to promote its support of Perth rock band Birds of Tokyo, who play at Sydney’s Cockatoo Island on May 27 as part of the Debit MasterCard Music Series.

The TV spot was supported by print and radio, all created by McCann Sydney, and an online element, by Mercer Bell. Media was planned and bought by UM, the event was orchestrated by Octagon and The Sound Campaign organised the band.

To date, the “Priceless Music” series has also featured Pendulum, Katy Perry and Good Charlotte. Priceless print work

Michael Raso, ECD of McCann Sydney, noted: “The Debit MasterCard Music programme had been around since 2009. We were successfully connecting with a younger audience. However, it was clear that there was potential to take this to the next level.”

“In doing so we wanted to push the visual style and technique as far as possible while remaining relevant to the audience. I’m really pleased with the result. Simon from Engine did an excellent job in capturing this in a truly artisanal fashion.”

The Debit MasterCard Music Series continues the credit card giant’s association with the arts, having sponsored the SBS French Film Season last year.
