Masterchef 2012 winner stars in branded web series

A web series featuring Masterchef 2012 stars on a cooking odessy in Mexico has been released by Sydney branded content production house Projucer to coincide with the launch of the series of the reality TV show.

Andy Allen, who won the fourth series of Masterchef, and finalist Ben Milbourne star in the five part series Andy and Ben Do Mexico, sponsored by Intrepid Travel, Old El Paso and Travel Insurance Direct.

The series shot in 2012 follows the pair who struck up a friendship during their time on Masterchef  to various locations in Mexico where they learned about local cooking and cultural traditions.

Josh Capelin of Projucer said the project aimed to return the Masterchef contestants to their fans and highlight Mexico as a holiday destination for brands.

“These digitally strategic and socially-savvy partners are a perfect fit for the series that is part food, part travel, part adventure and part discovery,” he said.

“We’re seeing a big shift in companies engaging branded content strategies across online entertainment properties, over what you would call a usual media spend via traditional channels.”

The Andy and Ben Do Mexico series launched last week on Andy Allen’s YouTube channel and there will be one episode released each week for five weeks.

Capelin said it is the start of more to come. “Andy and Ben are looking forward to exploring other food meccas around the globe, and big brands are already lining up to be a part of the journey,” he said.
