Masterchef and The Project help Ten beat Nine as Today trumps Sunrise for second day

The-Project-Waleed-Aly-Carrie-Bickmore-Peter-Helliar900WIn the absence of The Voice last night Ten’s Masterchef claimed 1.237m metro viewers, helping the channel claim second place with an audience share of 17.9 per cent, pushing Nine into third place with a share of 15.2 per cent.

Masterchef was the most-watched show of the evening, topping the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54) while the second half of Ten’s The Project from 7pm was the second most-watched show across the same demographics.

The panel news program saw 727,000 metro viewers tune in from 7pm after 543,000 switched on at 6.30pm.

In breakfast viewing Nine’s Today beat rival Sunrise for the second day in a row. Today grabbed 300,000 metro viewers while Seven’s Sunrise was watched by 290,000.

In the evening on Seven, which won the night with an audience share of 19.1 per cent, Border Security – Australia’s Front Line pulled in 693,000 metro viewers in the competitive 7.30pm timeslot out-rating Nine’s RBT which was watched by 617,000.

Seven’s Highway Patrol (8pm) grabbed 752,000 metro viewers with 725,000 sticking around for Criminal Minds at 8.30pm.

Ten’s Madam Secretary boosted its audience, with 617,000 metro viewers tuning in at 8.30pm, up on last week’s audience of 528,000.

Both Criminal Minds and Madam Secretary out-rated Nine’s movie offering The Great Gatsby which was watched by 261,000.

On the ABC, the first outing of Gretel Killeen and Matt Okine’s etiquette show How Not To Behave pulled in 536,000 at 8pm, after 7.30 was watched by 626,000. At 8.30pm, The Weekly with Charlie Pickering had an audience of 620,000. Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery, airing from 9pm, pulled in 707,000 metro viewers.

The ABC had an audience share of 13 per cent.

In the news battle ground Seven News at 6pm pulled in 1.097m to out-rate rival Nine News which at 6pm had an audience of 1.07m. In the 6.30pm timeslot Nine News had the bigger audience, with 1.047m viewers to Seven News’ audience of 1.042m.
