Masterchef halo gives 7PM Project and Bondi Rescue much needed boost

The halo effect of Masterchef has buoyed Ten’s Tuesday night TV ratings, with the 7PM Project and Bondi Rescue returning solid results.

In the 7:30pm time slot Masterchef again beat Nine’s Top Gear and Seven’s Australia’s Got Talent, with an average of 1.558m viewers, according to preliminary overnight OzTam data in the main metro markets.

Meanwhile, in the half hour slot before Masterchef Ten’s 7PM Project almost hit the one million mark with an average of 921,000 viewers.

Directly following Masterchef at 8pm Bondi Rescue saw 1.168m tune in. The result is still shy of the 1.273m average it reached last year, but is higher than the ratings dips it has suffered this year when it has fallen below one million.

While Ten’s popular US crime show NCIS is now far from the most-watched show on Tuesday nights, due to Masterchef’s dominance, it still managed to almost equal last week’s ratings with 1.37m viewers.
