Masterchef joins most-Googled list

masterchef logoGoogle Australia logoIt wasn’t just TV viewers who embraced Ten’s Masterchef – the hit cooking contest has also been the third fastest rising term on Google so far this year, the search giant has revealed.  

Indeed, Masterchef was only beaten by swine flu and Susan Boyle when it came to growth in Australian searches.

The Ten network’s new digital sports channel, One HD also made the top ten fastest growing terms of the year. Other media terms in the top ten included Twitter and Google’s would-be search rival Bing.

In a blog posting today, Google Australia said the top ten fastest rising terms were:

  1. swine flu
  2. susan boyle
  3. masterchef
  4. stimulus package
  5. wimbledon
  6. twitter
  7. bing
  8. one hd
  9. afl fixture 2009
  10. bruno

And in searches relating to fastest growing searches for TV, movies and games, Ten’s The Biggest Loser made the list:

  1. masterchef
  2. new moon
  3. watchmen
  4. sims 3
  5. transformers 2
  6. midnight sun
  7. crazy taxi
  8. jizz in my pants
  9. biggest loser
  10. twilight

For products and services, the list included:

  1. twitter
  2. bing
  3. one hd
  4. windows 7
  5. facebook
  6. skype download
  7. picnik
  8. avg free download
  9. google chrome
  10. itunes download

And the fastest growing retail searches were:

  1. kmart catalogue
  2. target catalogue
  3. ikea australia
  4. coles online
  5. bunnings
  6. fantastic furniture
  7. sportsgirl
  8. good guys
  9. rebel sports
  10. crazy johns

The fastest growing websites searches were:

  1. ato.gov.au
  2. webjet.com.au
  3. jetstar.com.au
  4. centrelink online services
  5. ticketek.com.au
  6. oasis active
  7. rsvp.com.au
  8. realestate.com.au rentals
  9. nrl.com
  10. afl.com.au
