Masterchef joins most-Googled list
It wasn’t just TV viewers who embraced Ten’s Masterchef – the hit cooking contest has also been the third fastest rising term on Google so far this year, the search giant has revealed.
Indeed, Masterchef was only beaten by swine flu and Susan Boyle when it came to growth in Australian searches.
The Ten network’s new digital sports channel, One HD also made the top ten fastest growing terms of the year. Other media terms in the top ten included Twitter and Google’s would-be search rival Bing.
In a blog posting today, Google Australia said the top ten fastest rising terms were:
- swine flu
- susan boyle
- masterchef
- stimulus package
- wimbledon
- bing
- one hd
- afl fixture 2009
- bruno
And in searches relating to fastest growing searches for TV, movies and games, Ten’s The Biggest Loser made the list:
- masterchef
- new moon
- watchmen
- sims 3
- transformers 2
- midnight sun
- crazy taxi
- jizz in my pants
- biggest loser
- twilight
For products and services, the list included:
- bing
- one hd
- windows 7
- skype download
- picnik
- avg free download
- google chrome
- itunes download
And the fastest growing retail searches were:
- kmart catalogue
- target catalogue
- ikea australia
- coles online
- bunnings

- rebel sports
- crazy johns
The fastest growing websites searches were:

- centrelink online services
- ticketek.com.au

- nrl.com
- afl.com.au
Could someone please clarify which of the three groups that No. 8 in TV, movies, games – jizz in my pants – falls in to?

Good question, anon. Bascially it’s an annoying song that makes me despair fro humanity. Perhaps the search was cast wide enough for general entertainment…

It was a filmed SNL skit initially so the Goog is probably categorising it under ‘Movies’
