Masterchef nudges a million viewers as Seven drops below 20 per cent share
Ten’s Masterchef has come close to cracking a million viewers last night after a strong performance in the overnight metro audience ratings, garnering 931,000 viewers in the 7.30pm time slot.
The show, which was the sixth most watched last night, beat all other entertainment offerings from its rivals for the second Thursday in a row, according to OzTam’s preliminary overnight ratings.
Nine won the overall ratings share with 21.1 per cent of the audience with Nine News wining the ratings on 1.233 million viewers, Nine News 6.30 coming second with 1.173 million and A Current Affair coming in at fourth with 1.023 million. The Big Bang Theory repeat placed at number eight with 888,000 viewers at 8pm.
Nine’s 8.30pm offering The Footy Show failed to make the top ten after drawing just 718,000 viewers and placing at number 14, losing out to ABC1’s Call the Midwife which got 837,000 viewers.
Seven fell below 20 per cent overall audience share, collecting 18.5 per cent after Seven News placed number three with 1.115 million viewers, Seven News/Today Tonight was five with 1.023 million.
Home and Away was seventh most-watched with 920,000 viewers for its hour-long Thursday showing in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, and a two-hour episode in Melbourne and Adelaide.
It’s 8pm offering of Border Security which only aired in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, 411,000, and the following 8.30pm offering Bones, 533,000.

Go Masterchef! the Auction last night was an interesting approach. Not been done before. Iti s a classier show than MKR but somehow have lost some of its audience. It is definitely a much better show this year.
