Masterchef wins across the demos as Ten wins the audience share

Nine and Seven’s news offerings dominated the Thursday night TV ratings, but it was Channel Ten’s Masterchef which led the channel to win the audience share.

According to OzTam’s preliminary overnight ratings, Channel Ten’s share of 19.8% was just ahead Nine’s 19.4% and Seven’s 16.7%. The ABC managed 9.9% and SBS had 5.2%.

The two episodes of Channel Ten’s Masterchef were the most-watched shows across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49, 25-54), as Masterchef’s 2016 winner, Elena Duggan, returned to the show.

Masterchef’s 7:30pm episode collected 899,000 viewers, and the second episode, airing around 8.30pm, achieved 910,000 viewers.

The show was ahead of Nine’s RBT which aired at 7:30pm and pulled in an audience of 662,000 while Seven’s House Rules managed an audience of 630,000.

At 8pm, ABC’s The Checkout grabbed 486,000 viewers, a slip from last week’s audience of 517,000 metro viewers.

Nine’s Footy Show, which aired at 8:40pm, had an audience of 461,000.

In news, Nine won the night with 1.068m metro viewers at 6pm and 1.020m at 6:30pm.

Seven News was just behind with 1.043m and 951,000 viewers respectively.
