MasterChef wins primetime as Hot Seat outrates Millionaire special

A quiet Thursday night saw primetime won by Ten’s MasterChef Australia, with 572,000 metro viewers tuning into the program.

Nine’s special episode of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, featuring four sports stars competing for charity, aired to just 351,000 metro viewers in the 7:30pm slot (failing to rate as high as sister show Hot Seat, which drew 463,000 metro viewers).

Masterchef Australia also won the 16-39 advertising demo, while Nine News 6:30 won 18-49 and 25-54. It was the #7 program on the night overall.

Meanwhile, Seven’s primetime offering of Home And Away brought in 500,000 metro viewers.

The second best entertainment program on the night was The Chase Australia, which bought in 534,000 metro viewers for Seven. Meanwhile, The Front Bar had 339,000 metro viewers.

Seven also had the #1 program of the night, with Seven News taking 968,000 metro viewers.

That helped Seven to a 30.9% network share win for the evening, ahead of Nine on 24.7%, Ten on 20.1%, and ABC with 14.3%. The top rating multi-channel was 7mate with 4.2%.

The ABC’s budget coverage continued with Budget 2021: Opposition Reply, watched by 337,000. That came after 413,000 metro viewers watched the Government deliver the budget on Tuesday.
