‘Masturbation is the only thing that isn’t taxed’ Wicked Campers van deemed inappropriate by ad watchdog
Infamous van rental company Wicked Campers has had one of its South Australian vans banned for the use of inappropriate language.
The van said: “Masturbation is the only thing that isn’t taxed, regulated or illegal. That’s your freedom; you’re free to go fuck yourself.”
Wicked Campers didn’t respond to the ruling or complaint
Complaining to the advertising regulator, Ad Standards, a commenter said the company used “appalling language in public” which has “overt sexual references”.
Another commenter said they were “offended by both the content and the language”.
Ad Standards said because the words were used on a moving vehicle, it is likely children would be exposed to the inappropriate language.
Upholding the complaint, and banning the van, Ad Standards said: “The word “fuck” is not appropriate for such an audience and that it is a word which most members of the community would consider obscene.”
Wicked Campers declined to respond to the ruling and comments.
