Match Media expands into Melbourne with new office to be led by Garth Moring

Morning and Preston set to open a Melbourne office for Match Media.

Moring and Preston: “Melbourne clients are looking for a fresh, digitally and data progressive agency”

Publicis media agency Match Media is opening a Melbourne office to be led by client partner, Garth Moring.

The new five-person office will be based out of the creative hub of Saatchi & Saatchi and SapientNitro at Southbank.

“Melbourne has been firmly on our radar for the past 18 months, and over that time we have built a roster of clients that equates to 10% of the overall Match revenue,” said John Preston, founder & CEO of Match Media, who added that the agency had often been asked to pitch for Melbourne business.

“We have had a lot of enquiries supporting our view that Melbourne clients are looking for a fresh, digitally and data progressive agency such as Match. To say we are excited about launching in Melbourne is an understatement.”

The Melbourne expansion comes just nine months after Preston and his co-owners sold the business to Publicis where it joined ZenithOptimedia Group’s newly launched global media network, Blue 449.

Match Media has had a mixed start to the year with the agency facing the closure of one of its biggest clients with the closure of home improvement, Masters but also winning the $14.8m media account for subscription video on demand (SVOD) service Presto.

Preston said he was keen for the Melbourne office to have the same culture and level of service as its Sydney office, which was why they moved Moring to Melbourne.

“It was vitally important to set up Match Melbourne with someone who intimately understands the Match culture and how we work to maintain consistency of product and service,” said Preston.

“Garth was the perfect match; having been with us for over seven years he knows the magic of our offering. We will then recruit local Melbourne talent who know the market and what makes Melbourne special, to support Garth.”

“I’m incredibly excited by the opportunity to lead Match Media’s expansion into the Melbourne market,” said Moring.

“We have a strong proposition which is geared towards helping our clients grow. I am looking forward to transitioning the successful formula we have created in Sydney to such a dynamic market like Melbourne.”
