Matildas players write thank you letters to their mentors in new campaign from Hyundai

Hyundai has created a new campaign in support of the Matildas, ahead of the team competing at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The campaign sees Hyundai delivering thank you letters Matildas players Sam Kerr, Lisa de Vanna, Alanna Kennedy and Clare Polkinghorne have written to their mentors.

Hyundai is aiming to give the Matildas an equal platform as the men’s team, using its sponsorship to give the players an opportunity to thank the people who have supported them throughout their careers. Each film shows the story from both the player’s and mentor’s perspective.

JW Lee, CEO of Hyundai Australia, said this isn’t a standalone campaign.

“Hyundai has always been one of Australia’s proudest football fans. This campaign is about powerful and emotive storytelling, and it puts the spotlight on each of the people who have made an impact on the lives of Matildas players, supporting them through their journey to footballs biggest stage,” Lee said.

“This is not just a standalone campaign. For Hyundai, it’s part of something much bigger. Supporting the Matildas is part of our desire to help grow women’s football and give these players the recognition and profiles they deserve. As some of the most talented athletes in the country, and the nation’s best female football players, they truly deserve the opportunity to become household names.”

Last week Hyundai revealed its brand new i30 N which had travelled across the country for Australians to write messages of support on.

The campaign will be executed across Foxtel, Optus, SBS, free-to-air TV and online.
