Matt Okine to replace Tom Ballard on breakfast as Triple J confirms 2014 lineup
Comedian Matt Okine has been signed by Triple J to host the breakfast show with Alex Dyson after Tom Ballard’s departure.
Confirming its lineup for 2014, Triple J says Okine will start on January 13 to launch the Matt and Alex show.
Meanwhile Ballard is departing to pursue his passion for stand-up comedy.
Marking the changeover Okine will perform stand-up at Tom Ballad’s farewell show in Sydney next Friday, December 13.
His work as a stand-up comedian includes touring festivals such as the Montreal ‘Just for Laughs’, Edinburgh Fringe, Homebake and Reading, and he won the award for Best of the Fest at the Sydney Comedy Festival this year. He also hosts the football League show on SBS2, Thursday FC.
Also departing Triple J breakfast is Hack news presenter Sophie McNeill, who has been off on maternity leave, however news presenter Tom Tilley will stay on.
And Triple J has also confirmed The Doctor, Zan Rowe, Lewi McKirdy and Linda Margliano will return as regular weekday presenters in 2014.
