M&C Saatchi faces loss of Abu Dhabi Tourism

M&C Saatchi Australia faces a pitch for its lucrative Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority account when its contract ends shortly, according to reports from the Middle East.

The agency helped Abu Dhabi – the oil rich capital of the United Arab Emirates – redevelop its brand identity in 2007. But according to the marketing publication Campaign Middle East, the client is about to publish a request for proposal document.

The magazine quotes the ADTA chairman sas saying: “”Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority is finalising an RFP for an advertising agency. The successful agency should have an office in Abu Dhabi or the UAE. The RFP will be sent to pre-selected agencies within the next couple of weeks.”

Mike Abel, CEO of M&C Saatchi Australia said in a statement:  “Our contract with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority concluded in December 2008; however, we have continued to work with the ADTA in directing and producing a major motivational stills shoot.  We understand a review of agencies will be undertaken in the months ahead, and M&C Saatchi looks forward to participating and continuing with its much-acclaimed and beautiful work for Abu Dhabi.
