Meat & Livestock Australia pits beef Vs salad
A man who reluctantly shares his beef curry with his partner, who ordered a salad, is the creative idea behind an ad for Meat & Livestock Australia. BMF was the agency behind the ad, which was directed by Tim Bullock.
This is third in a series of ads for Meat & Livestock Australia’s “Trust your Beeflex” campaign, timed to coincide with the first official day of winter.
Glen Feist, general manager of marketing at MLA, said: “We’ve just had the coldest May in years, so it’s an ideal time to remind consumers to warm up this winter, with delicious beef casseroles, curries, pies and roasts.”
An extended version of the ad will air during the second State of Origin game on Wednesday 15 June. This will be supported with radio, point of sale, social media and PR activity.

Was the beef in this ad bludgeoned to death in Indonesia? Not a good time for an ad campaign.

Not sure what they’re putting in the beef over at BMF but this is a very lame effort. Opportunity missed. Poor script.

Nice ad, simple and to the point and still amusing.
Only feedback I have is if they wanted to make it realistic, the meal serving portions would’ve been big enough to fit on a saucer and the plates would’ve been half the size of the table…

…. and nobody wants to comment on a meat and livestock ad being directed by someone named Tim Bullock? 🙂

Would you seriously launch a lighthearted ad about choosing beef given the current PR climate around animal welfare issues?
This ad series is pretty frivolous, aren’t MLA concerned about chicken overtaking them in meal popularity? They need to work harder.

It appears a very tenuous link to draw between a curry-based ad spruiking choosing beef over salad, to how exported cattle are treated in a developing nation’s abbatoir.
