Media company Ziff Davis announces new sales team and global realignment

Three new hires and a promotion have been announced at media company Ziff Davis as the publisher follows global realignment into three core verticals – gaming, technology and shopping.

Ziff Davis includes brands such as Mashable and IGN.

Ben Hutton has been promoted to lead the Australian sales team. He moves into the position having joined Ziff Davis in 2017 and previously holding the role of senior account manager. Hutton worked with Allure Media for two years before joining Ziff.

Also joining the company is account manager Harry Argyle who joins from Bohemia, programmatic sales coordinator Anthony Meighan and direct sales coordinator Chad Caliskan.

Ziff Davis Australia general manager James Whitehead said: “Ben has established himself as a leading media professional. His expertise and enthusiasm for our core brands, categories, and client relationships are infectious. I look forward to working closely with him on recognising success with the new team under the global realignment of our world-class brands.”

Hutton said: “I’m thrilled to be leading the Ziff Davis sales team into this new era for the business. With all of the changes around 3rd party cookies, premium interest-based publishers are very likely to be in high demand and Ziff Davis is well-positioned to offer brands gaming, tech, lifestyle and parenting audiences at scale. We have an incredibly passionate team and with the addition of great talent in Harry, Chad, and Anthony we will be a force to be reckoned with.

“With that being said, it’s no secret that we’re in a challenging media market. Our job is to demonstrate how valuable we truly are, not just for our advertising services but what our editorial, social and events teams do on a daily basis to cover brands and introduce them to our audience. I would challenge any brands or agencies to look beyond the mainstream and help support the sites and publications that support you.”

The new structure of Ziff replaces the existing global stables and will allow clients to access opportunities worldwide in the three core verticals, the company said.

Yael Prough, EVP, general manager said: “With the move by many of our partners and clients towards globalisation now is the perfect time for IGN and Ziff Davis to truly globalise. This is intended to not only help our partners from a global content publishing perspective but also from a marketing perspective across all of our 28 platforms globally. Jimmy Whitehead has built a tremendous team in Australia and I’m excited to continue to help IGN grow in Australia and internationally.”
