Media Innovation Group opens Australian office

James Welch & Jon BrennanWPP digital media consultancy Media Innovation Group is opening an Australian office to be headed by Jon Brennan, a recruit from the company’s UK division.

The move follows recent expansions by the group into Asia, America and Europe.

Regional director for MIG Asia Pacific, James Welch said the company made the expansion because it saw a “maturity” in the Sydney market for data. “The existing client base in Australia includes advertisers and agencies who ‘get digital’ and demand real-time insights,” said Welch, who is a former new business director at ad agency Innocean.

“Recently Sydney has been one of the most exciting places for us thanks to the maturity of the data-savvy market,” he said.

The company is yet to reveal its client list although it is understood to be pursuing consultancy work with a number of Australian and New Zealand based advertisers.

Brennan, a former lawyer who joined the company in 2010, said he was excited about the launch. “Having experienced the growth and success of the Media Innovation Group within Europe, I am excited to be able to bring best-in-class marketing solutions to the market, and help build upon the success already experienced by the Media Innovation Group within the APAC region,” said Brennan.

The company’s Sydney office will be housed within WPP’s Kantar group of businesses.
