Publicis Group’s new MediaVest media agency has poached the Multi Channel Network’s Gareth Jones to be its new head of strategy, Mumbrella can reveal.

Jones has more than 15 years’ experience in media and communications in both the UK and Australia, and was most recently MCN’s national strategy manager.

“There is no better time for Gareth to join MediaVest,” said Sue Squillace, MediaVest general manager. “The last six months have been about consolidating and transitioning the business that we have and we are now ready to take the next step in our journey.”

As Mumbrella revealed last year, Starcom MediaVest is splitting into two media agencies, with MediaVest to initially be focused on working its sister creative agencies on a shared media strategy.

“We could not be happier that someone with Gareth’s wealth of experience and skill set is joining our leadership team and I am confident he will provide great benefits for our clients,” said Squillace.

MediaVest is expected to formally launch its new offering later this year but is already in market and has been on a number of pitches.

Jones said: “I am looking forward to working with the MediaVest team, agency partners and media owners to use strategic insights to drive a future-focused vision for clients.”

The appointment is effective today.
