Meet advertising’s people of the year
Advertising Age has named its people of the year. But you need to go all the way to number eight on the list before you’ll find somebody who actually works in an advertising agency.
The US-based publication chooses David Axelrod, Barack Obama’s strategist, as its person of the year. He’s followed in the top five by swimmer Michael Phelps, Walmart CEO Lee Scott, Unilever CEO Patrick Cescau and Apple boss Steve Jobs.
At number six is Bravo TV boss Laura Zalaznick, followed by Hulu creator Jason Kilar.
The only person in the list with an agency job is Tom Carroll (pictured), CEO and president of Omnicom’s TBWA Worldwide, which won global briefs on both Visa and Pepsi this year.
