Meet Australia’s multinational tax shifters
This Wednesday’s adland insider show Gruen set a tough task in The Pitch – educate the public on the multinational tax shifters who aren’t contributing a fair share to Australia’s coffers.
The winner at a gallop was this fantastically persuasive ad from Banjo Advertising.

Dr Mumbo suspects that it made uncomfortable viewing for the likes of American Express, Apple, Ikea, Microsoft and Shell. Be a shame if it went viral, wouldn’t it?
now that is GENIUS!

It’s not surprising the panel liked this ad but it had the opposite effect for me – that is, it focused my mind on the inadequacies of successive Federal government’s over the past thirty years to construct a tax system that disabled multi-national companies ability to operate this way instead of making me want to boycott the companies mentioned. The same can be said for all those major Australian companies and their clever tax advisors that minimise or pay no tax at the expense of the basic wage earner.

One word. Brilliant.

The brief was not educate the public. It was to convince the multi-nationals to pay their share. For that I felt the other ad met the brief much better.
But this was a great ad and should be picked up by the Australian Government to educate Australians on how little these companies contribute compared to home grown companies doing the right thing.

Whist I don’t like to see this countries facilities miss out I agree with Rob. Its up to corporations to make as much money as they can legally, and then pay out as little as they can legally… thats called commerce… It is up to the Government/ Tax department to arrange the law so that they are no longer missing out rather than cry poor and getting the court of public opinion to get another multi national to leave our shores. Some of the wealthiest people from this country famously say that if you are paying more than AUD$1 in tax you’re a fool.

This made me hate the advertising industry less. Fucking awesome.

Was I the only one who entered that URL? The agency should have built a dummy site as well #OmniChannel

Pretty darn good at highlighting the need for tax reform. Outing big employers though isn’t without its political cost, hence brilliant as it is, I’m not sure such a campaign strategy would move beyond Gruen. Regardless well done to all involved.

Let’s just hope they got their facts right and the companies mentioned are dodging tax illegally. Otherwise ……….

heres a clue, its actually not their job to make as much money as possible, yes it is what they do, but its wrong and it needs to be changed.
This week, NAB posted a 6 billion dollar profit and began charging MORE to its customers.
How stupid are we?
