Melbourne Cup Ad Wrap: Ubet begs the Queen; Sportsbet’s undies check; William Hill doubles down; TAB launches quaddie cash-out

As the race that stops the nation fast approaches, Mumbrella looks over some of the latest sports-betting campaigns being rolled out in the lead up to the biggest horse-racing event in Australia.

UBET has launched #UBET2.0, a follow-up TVC from last year’s Melbourne Cup, which follows Brisbane Lions’ Jonathan Brown, as he asks The Queen of England for a public holiday in every state in Australia. The ad spot features ‘Browny’ with a series of jockeys on a beautiful country estate, pitching the idea to her royal majesty.

Sportsbet is giving away top Melbourne Cup tips, based on the type of underwear you wear. In this comical spot, a young man in a suit recommends the 24 horses you should bet on according to size, shape and wear and tear of the underwear you wear.

William Hill takes customers on a roller-coaster ride along a simulated race-course to promote its new racing product ‘Double Down.’ The 30-second spot features two men as they are strapped into a couch that takes them flying around the racecourse, being able to watch the race close up and double their bets half way through the race.

Tab.com.au are launching their quaddie cash-out in the lead up to the big race day, with a campaign that features a young man and his mates looking back on the time they lost big over a quad bet. The latest spot also features the Bon Jovi song ‘Always’; the song was part of TAB’s ‘We Love A Bet’ campaign earlier this year.
