Melbourne MD Michael Godwin departs Wunderman Thompson
Michael Godwin has left his role as the managing director of Wunderman Thompson Melbourne, Mumbrella can reveal.
Godwin spent 10 years at the agency, starting out with JWT and leading the Melbourne office through its merger with Wunderman in 2019. He finished up in late 2020.
The search for his replacement is underway, and in the interim CEO Lee Leggett will take on the responsibilities of the role with support from the Melbourne leadership team.
Leggett said to Mumbrella in a statement: “On behalf of my team, I wish Michael all the best and every success in his future endeavours.”
Leggett was appointed CEO of the agency in June, as John Gutteridge stepped down.
Gutteridge returned to Australia from his position as Asia Pacific CEO of JWT in Singapore to oversee the local merger. He spent just over 10 years at the agency.
Further leadership changes at the agency have included the departure of chief financial officer Jeremy Jenkinson, who joined Bastion collective in October 2020, and national chief creative officer Simon Langley, who joined independent agency Edge in September.
Langley was replaced by João Braga, who started in the chief creative officer role in November.
