Melbourne radio ratings: 3AW sees big ratings drop

Fairfax Media’s market leading Melbourne radio station 3AW has seen one of the biggest audience drops in any metro market in the latest set of ratings released by Nielsen today.

The station’s share dropped from 16.4% to 13.6%, a fall of 2.8 points.

The biggest decline came in the station’s usually dominant breakfast slot, presented by Ross Stevenson and John Burns. The duo hung on to the number one position, but a lead of 7.7 ratings points was reduced to just 1.4. 3AW’s breakfast leadership fell from 20.4% to 16.6%, while the ABC’s Jon Faine moved up from 12.7% to 15.2%.

In the FM market, Southern Cross Austereo’s Fox FM remained on top, with a slight rise in share from 10.5% to 10.9%.

DMG’s Nova 100 fell from 8.0% to 7.0% but the company’s 91.5 improved from 3.2% to 4.2%.
