Melbourne radio ratings: Fox FM climbs back to number one in FM breakfast, drive and overall people
Southern Cross Austereo’s radio station, Fox FM has managed to regain its top spot in FM breakfast, drive and overall people in the third radio survey of the year.
Last survey, Fox FM’s Fifi, Dave, Fev & Byron fell to sixth place in the breakfast ratings battle, with a 6.4% audience share, compared to this survey where it managed an 8.6% share.
Triple M, who won the breakfast battle last survey, fell to second place in survey three, staying stagnant with an 8% share.
Finishing in third place was Kiis FM’s Matt Tilley and Meshel Laurie as they pulled a 7% share, improving 0.2 points from last survey, while Nova’s Chrissie Swan, Sam Pang and Jonathan Brown fell 0.8 points to 6.8%.
Gold104.3 stayed at 6.6%, beating Smooth FM’s 6.4% as it dropped 0.8 points.
The drive radio battle also saw Fox FM crowned the most popular as Hamish and Andy jumped 2.4 points to 12.7% from last survey’s 10.3%.
Hamish and Andy managed to definitively beat Nova’s Kate Tim and Marty, who they tied with last time around, as the Nova team fell 0.6 points to 7.9% audience share. t
Kiis FM climbed 1.1 points to third place in FM drive grabbing an 8.8% share, up from last survey’s 7.7% and overtaking Smooth FM’s third place title.
Smooth FM dropped 1.7 points to a 7.9% share pushing it into fourth place.
Meanwhile, Gold104.3 finished with a 7.1% share in the drive battle, beating Triple M’s 5.4% share.
In overall audience share for the FM stations, Fox FM was triumphant as it overtook Smooth FM by jumping 1.7 points to a 9.8% share.
Smooth FM came in a close second with 9.3% losing its top spot. Third place went to Gold104.3 with 8.1%, beating Kiis FM’s 7% share.
Nova managed a fifth place finish as it fell 0.1 points to 7.6%, beating Triple M’s 6.3%.
In AM 3AW dominated the ratings finishing in first place in overall audience share as it managed a 15.5% share. Behind it was ABC Melbourne with 9.2%, followed by 3RN’s 3.4%, ABC FM’s 2.1% and ABC News’ 1%.
In breakfast 3AW saw a whopping 21.1% share, jumping 1.8 points, topping all the FM and AM stations.
ABC Melbourne followed 3AW with a 12.2% share as it dropped 1.6 points.
ABC Melbourne came third with 4.7%, followed by 3RN’s 4.7% and ABC News’ 1.5%.
The drive battle yet again saw 3AW dominate AM with 12.8% as it improved 2.6 points. Meanwhile ABC Melbourne was a distant second with 6.7% as SEN came in third with 4.8%.
Third spot in the AM drive competition went to 3RN’s 3.9% share.

Triple m listener for so many years but not anymore.Just over the Foo Fighters and Nirvana.Hot breakfast is good but turn off when same old stuff played.Bring back some stones who at least still play huge concerts in todays world,not bands who vanished or died 40 years ago.54 yr old male.
