Metro radio lineup changes in 2023? Here’s what you need to know

At the end of every year, the industry sees a merry-go-round in radio lineups across Australia’s metro markets. Here’s a guide to major changes you need to know for 2023.

Chrissie, Sam & Browny

Nova Entertainment

Melbourne listeners can expect a switch-up in breakfast as Nova 100’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny ended the show’s journey in December. The slot is taken over by Adelaide’s Ben & Liam, alongside their long-term producer, Belle Jackson.

Chrissie Swan will stay on the network, venturing into her own national show, airing from 2pm to 4pm and launching in January 2023.

While Ben, Liam & Belle will still host an early breakfast show in Adelaide, Nova 919’s breakfast slot will be taken over by Jodie Oddy and sports journalist Andrew Hayes.

Kate Ritchie of Nova’s national drive show, Kate, Tim & Joel, is set to return from her break in the new year.

Molloy

SCA

Triple M Sydney’s breakfast with MG, Jess and Pagey called it quits, as a new show with Mick Molloy & MG to take over in 2023.

Adelaide’s SAFM 107.1 will get a new breakfast in 2023, with Mark Soderstrom and Rebecca Morse. The duo replaces Anthony Lehmann, who returns to Melbourne in 2023 and was said to be a part of Triple M Melbourne programming.

O’Keefe

Nine Radio

Meanwhile, 2GB scored a new drive host as Jim Wilson stepped down from the slot after two years, to pursue opportunities within Nine Television.

9News political reporter Chris O’Keefe is the new presenter, commencing 9 January 2023.

2GB ditched The Chris Smith Show on weekends from 9am to 1pm this month, after Smith was being investigated by Sky News Australia for alleged sexual misconduct at a Christmas party.

6PR in Perth also secured a new breakfast show in November, with Steve “Millsy” Mills and Karl Langdon.

Henderson

ARN

The question remains whether Jackie O Henderson will return to one of Sydney’s top breakfast shows on KIIS 106.5 in 2023. She announced in November that she’s stepping down to focus on her health with an unconfirmed return date.

ABC

ABC Radio Melbourne announced this month that Charlie Pickering will join “Sammy J” McMillan in the breakfast lineup, hosting his own Friday breakfast show. No other changes for the station in the new year.
