Michael Lyon and Andrew Humphrey join Private Media

Private Media, the publisher of newsletter Crikey and other mastheads, has announced new senior staff appointments aimed at driving the company’s growth.

The announcement:

Two new senior technology appointments will see digital publisher Private Media (Crikey, Smart Company, Property Observer and Women’s Agenda) build its capacity to bring unique and innovative new media brands to the market.

Andrew Humphrey has joined the team as Chief Technical Officer and Michael Lyon as Senior Product Manager, bringing new expertise to the business to help extend existing brands and launch new brands into the market.

Private Media Publishing Director Marina Go said the new appointments contribute to the rich growth of the company.

“The appointment of Andrew and Michael to the Private Media team is an exciting development in the lifestage of this fast-growing company. They are already making a difference to our business.”

Prior to joining Private Media, Andrew spent 18 years designing and operating the infrastructure behind some of Australia’s busiest websites including realestate.com.au and bigbrother.com.au.

More recently Andrew worked for Classified Adventures and Someone’s Media before a brief sojourn with large enterprise at Telstra on an internal cloud project.

Michael most recently worked for a product strategy and development team at Reuters News in the US and UK where he focused on taking a range of new product and business development initiatives from concept to market in partnership with a number of Thomson Reuters professional customer segments.

Michael joined Thomson Reuters after completing an MBA at London Business School, having commenced his career as a lawyer at Maddocks in Melbourne prior to relocating to London to work for Baker & McKenzie’s corporate team.

Private Media is one of Australia’s leading digital publishers with a range of websites reaching more than one million unique, influential readers in Australia each month.

Its portfolio includes some of Australia’s fastest growing and best-known media publications including Crikey, Smart Company, Property Observer, StartupSmart and Women’s Agenda.

Andrew is looking forward to further developing and improving the technology behind each publication.

Michael, along with Product Manager Amelie Mills, will form Private Media’s new product management team and will be focused on the ongoing development of Crikey and Property Observer.
