Mini releases country song
Country singer Dan Tyminski has been recruited to sing a song for Mini, which is positioning its Mini Countryman four-door, four-wheel-drive model as ‘bigger than Texas’.
The Country Song was written by Badjar Ogilvy’s group creative head, Ferg Donaldson, and produced by Bang Bang studios. The song will run on Triple M and 2DayFM in Sydney, and Triple M and FOXFM in Melbourne.
“The ‘country song’ is a unique concept and we believe having someone with Tyminski’s credentials and unmistakable vocal stylings creates an unforgettable promotion for Mini’s Countryman,” said Donaldson.
Tyminski is best known as the singing voice of George Clooney in the Coen Brothers’ film “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”.

Hmm, I don’t know…
It’s memorable, sure. But I personally find ‘country twanging’ irritating. And there’s not much talk about the car’s features. I would have drawn more connection with the already popular Mini Cooper and leveraged off that, which I don’t think has been done here.

But it’s nothing like the mini Cooper

I’ve never heard of the guy and will anyone hearing the ad really care?
Nice way to blow some budget though.

Actually, it’s not a unique – doesn’t make the ad any better or worse – but it ain’t unique.
