Dr Mumbo

Miranda’s Devine’s back – like she was never gone

Miranda Devine began her new stint at News Ltd today with her first column in Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.

And like a great rock band of the 80s, Dr Mumbo was delighted to see that she was happy to go straight into the crowd-pleasing greatest hits rather than the new material.

So it was straight to the evils of greens, based on the shock value of this banned ad from the UK.

“Stand in the way of our plans and we will eliminate you”, is the policy of the green movement, Devine informs her readers.

And for those who miss her balanced tones, she went for the double whammy with a piece on teen promiscuity (it’s a bad thing.)

Adn this morning, she added her own nuance to the AFL debate and Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s comments. Apparently “The linguistic police are always so eager to crush dissent that most celebrities buckle under the pressure.”

Curiously, her column has not yet taken off online in the way Devine’s bosses would have hoped. By mid afternoon, the greens item had only 25 comments on her blog and a further 19 comments on the Tele’s website.
