MKR returns February 2 with The Rivals
My Kitchen Rules will return for 2020 on Sunday, February 2, with its new format – The Rivals.
Manu Feildel and Pete Evans are back, with Colin Fassnidge, as are a collection of fan favourites from previous seasons who will compete, with Feildel leading them, against Fassnidge’s team of fans.
Season four winners Dan and Steph are back for another shot at the crown, as are runners up Jake and Elle. Season six grand finalists Jac and Shaz, season nine contestants Roula and Rachael and a combo team of Sophia from season four and Romel of season ten will also return for another run.
The 2020 season is the 11th for the program, but the first in the new format. MKR found its ratings high point in season five when 1.774m viewers tuned in for the premiere and 2.408m for the final episode. Season one brought in 1.103m and 1.525m, while season ten delivered 816,000 and 873,000 in 2019.
In the new format, the two teams will live together in separate houses and cook in a series of Instant Restaurant challenges with Evans judging. One team will be eliminated at the end of each round. The next section will see teams take over real restaurants, before the finale will be comprised of a team vs team battle to the finish for $100,000.
The teams competing for the fans include mummy bloggers Jenni and Louise, bartenders Ben and Vasil, childhood friends Sue Ann and Sylvia, ex-army sisters Kerry and Kaylene and poker players Mark and Lauren.
My Kitchen Rules is a Seven Studios original format and has been sold to more than 160 countries worldwide.
