Modern political advertising
Sometimes it’s hard for voters to understand the nuances of party politics and it takes a piece of advertising to cut through.
Bob Katter’s Australian Party has created just such a piece of advertising.
It’s always important to capture that homophobic voter minority.
I wonder where they bought the stock photo from … found it on shutterstock, and their license exclusions specifically mention political endorsements:
“Uses Prohibited by Both Licenses: [Using] an Image in a way that places any person depicted in the Image in a bad light or in a way that they may find offensive – this includes, but is not limited to the use of Images: a) in pornography, “adult videos” or the like; b) in ads for tobacco products; c) in ads or promotional materials for adult entertainment clubs or similar venues, or for escort, dating or similar services; d) in connection with political endorsements … ”

This blatant homophobic campaign is so terrible it has honestly made me sick to my stomach. How can this be okay, honestly.

Small print, quietly spoken: “blah, blah, blah, waffle, waffle, waffle…”

Ads never ever shock, surprise or delight me as you work in this industry for long enough and nothing seems that exciting or cuts through. BUT, last night i said “whoa” at least three times.
I really didnt think that there were that many people out there where a message like that would be effective enough to make a difference on polling day for the positive. I must be out of touch.

What a great campaign to reinforce Campbell Newman’s progressive credentials against attack ads by Labor claiming he will take Queensland back decades. Given the media coverage this has received the LNP could hardly have put together a better campaign them selves.

That’s the Katt in the Hat for you! Libs for the 70s and Katt for the 50s.

Who’s the ad agency behind this campaign or was it made in-house?

JP, that’s brilliant. I have just written to Shutterstock informing them.

I am so impressed with the point that JP makes in the first comment that I think it warrants further investigation by Mumbrella. Get on it guys and blow this story wide apart!

Thanks guys – we’re chasing it. Shutterstock are in the US, so we weren’t able to raise them this afternoon.
Cheers,
