Momentum Media launches new media platform, Space Connect

Momentum Media – the company behind trade media brands including Lawyers Weekly, Accountants Daily and The Adviser – has added another platform to its portfolio with the launch of Space Connect.

The publisher said Space Connect is the first dedicated information hub for the local space industry, and will its growth as well as project Australia’s space capabilities globally.

Space Connect joins Momentum’s B2B portfolio including Defence Connect and Lawyers Weekly

Momentum Media’s platform for the defence sector, Defence Connect, won Mumbrella Publish Awards for Business Website of the Year and Re-Launch of the Year in September.

Phil Tarrant, Momentum Media’s director, said Space Connect is well positioned to take advantage of the booming industry, currently valued between $3bn and $4bn annually.

According to Tarrant, this is set to triple by 2030 in Australia, taking its value up towards $12bn.

“This is the first platform to connect space professionals with jobs, support space careers, reveal business opportunities, drive the space start-up sector and highlight opportunities for funding,” he said.

“The platform will serve as the authoritative marketplace to connect ideas, research and innovation, with opportunities for space commercialisation.”

Space Connect will play host to an information and ideas exchange, plus a funding and grant opportunities platform, Tarrant said.

“This will be backed by market intelligence, news, information and analysis, channelled through an interactive digital hub that includes podcast and broadcast channels, supported by daily updates.”

The B2B media brand will target the Australian Space Agency and other government bodies including the CSIRO and Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, as well as the satcom, mobile communication and telco sector.

Tarrant said state and federal ministries, the space manufacturing and operations sector, agriculture, water and disaster management industries, defence, SMEs, academic institutions and think tanks would also be represented.

“We’ll work with all stakeholders in the space sector to underpin the growth of Space Connect and look to represent the views, opinions and attitudes of the wider space economy.”
